I. Introduction
Chain is the debut Japanese EP by the permanent NCT sub-unit, NCT 127. It was released on May 23, 2018 by their Japanese record label Avex Trax.
II. Background and Release
SM announced that NCT 127 and Red Velvet would debut and hold a showcase tour in Japan to support its new partnership with Avex Trax. Chain was released in 13 editions - 10 CDs with individual member covers, two CDs + DVDs and a limited edition cassette tape.
The EP features five songs in Japanese. Chain was preceded by the Japanese version of "Limitless" as the first single on November 4, 2017, followed by the single "Chain" on May 8, 2018. The title track "Chain" later received a Korean version in the group’s repackaged album, Regulate. This was the last album to feature Winwin.

Chain debuted at #2 on the Japanese Oricon Weekly Albums chart with 44,832 copies sold on its first week of release. It also debuted at #8 on the U.S. Billboard World Albums chart, making it the group fourth top 10 entry. The song "Chain" reached #21 on the Japanese Hot 100.
