Analog Trip NCT 127: Escape from Magic Island

I. Introduction

Analog Trip NCT 127: Escape from Magic Island follows the members of boy group NCT 127 during missions and clues to find their way off an abandoned island.

II. Overview

The group structure of NCT is unique among K-Pop groups due to the fact that the concept of NCT is an ever expanding group with "unlimited" members and it is comprised of several individual sub-units. NCT 127 is one of the sub-units.

Analog Trip NCT 127: Escape from Magic Island is the second version of the scripted Analog Trip series. The original series featured members of SM groups TVXQ and Super Junior as they "travel in time," making their way back to the present with technology available in 2002. This is the "analog" of the title and the series is a travel show as they head through Indonesia. The show is a hybrid of scripted and reality.

The COVID-19 pandemic's impact on travel kept the second series more local to Korea. This series followed the members of NCT 127, who were "abandoned" on Somuuido Island following a music video shoot. The members have to find and analyze clues to solve puzzles, like opening the refrigerator to get meals, as well as the way to leave the island. Again, they are without modern conveniences like phones, creating the "analog" portion of the show.

Unlike the first show, which was produced for YouTube Premium, the second series was free through NCT 127's YouTube channel. The series is produced in conjunction with SM's Culture & Contents and YouTube Originals, featuring crew, including directors, who have worked on the long-running NCT Life series.

Trailers premiered on October 22, as well as a staff interview on October 28. The series ran from October 29 with new episodes uploaded on Fridays.
