(G)I-DLE

  • I. Introduction

The South Korean girl group (G)I-DLE (which consists of Miyeon, Minnie, Soojin, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua) debuted in 2018 under Cube Entertainment with the mini album I Am and the title track of "LATATA", and made a comeback for the first time with the single "HANN" that same year. Since then, the group's released three more mini albums (I Made, I Trust, and I Burn) and four more singles (Uh-Oh, Lion, I'm the Trend, and DUMDi DUMDi), and also entered the Japanese market in 2019 with a mini album titled LATATA.

As with many other groups out there, (G)I-DLE's career hasn't been without controversy. In 2019, a performance by (G)I-DLE on Queendom was criticized for the cultural appropriation involved in the "African influences" that were talked about when the group's members were planning the performance, and in 2021, accusations that member Soojin bullied others at school were posted online.
