i'll never understand these companies paying all the money to get BTS and then not putting any time into the ad campaign
hopefully the CFs will be fun
-
i just want a cute little twerkable summer bop with joon's newly sculpted musculature on display in the MV
and if it's in english the lyrics better be good ffs
-
YG family finally getting ousted
-
good for them for making a little controversy i'll give them some streams

How is it arbitrary? The rule is very clear cut and based on cultural impact. What more do they expect? Why is that people in here and those companies are complaining but can’t come up with a tangible rule themselves to recommend? I bet if they left it up to these companies it’s be something stupid like a billboard #1 in which they’d sell 80 version of one album and commit fraud sales.
arbitrary for other exemptions i meant - certain athletes, certain venture capitalists, etc. I think BTS has absolutely earned an
exemption*cough* postponement, but I do think that before the law was changed, it did seem arbitrary about why some people got an exemption and others didn't -
interesting...
i personally think it's worth protesting when they have so many different rules based on seemingly arbitrary things but then again, BTS most definitely deserves a postponement at this point. It would be supremely stupid to cut BTS off at the height of their unprecedented fame to go sit around in the military for 1.5 years

i dont really understand why armies are so worried about solo stans, they exist and will continue existing. have yall ever checked fancam views, songs streams? it's obvious who are the most popular of the group, releasing solo debuts wont make a difference. i actually think it would be a good thing, they work so hard making those "mixtapes" but they wont never truly reach the public bc of bighit stupid narratives, they at least deserve some sort of promotion (like playlisting and being released in korean music platforms) so more ppl get to know them individually.
exactly. Both sides arguing in here are ignoring a simple fact - some BTS members already have solo careers. The members' solo projects exist and are currently making money but are not managed/promoted properly because of *reasons*. Supposed lack of solo activities hasn't stopped the members from having disruptive and annoying solo stans so what's everyone so afraid of? The more Bighit markets BTS this specific way, the more solo stans have thrived so obviously something ain't working

it's definitely coming soon. Either this month or July I'd guess

Namjoon himself was the one who put Mono. free on dropbox and didn't put it elsewhere until armies begged to be able to pay for it
What? this is not true
mono was always available to buy on itunes and to stream on apple music and spotify. His first mixtape is the one that's not available for purchase because of samples
to answer OP, the only true mixtapes that they've released were RM1 and Agust D. Nowadays, it's a marketing strategy, mostly to make armys feel secure that BTS is going to stay OT7 as well as minimize the money and time that bighit has to spend on their solo activities

Finally hybighit doing something i care about! this is very interesting...

there's a similar problem in the western music industry right now, but wow. the kpop industry always seems to go above and beyond in being scummy and scammy. I feel bad for the up and coming songwriters that feel like their only option is these academies and i hope eventually they'll see their money
