Because they actually train them to be vocalist, I think most companies focus on performances and "personality". Many idols have barely recieved proper vocal lessons.

Idk some groups are just liked and others don't even if they have similar concepts, that's life. Being from the big3 helped them too since they would have way more resources than idols from smaller companies, but mostly I would say it's just luck.
