Hot take: In order to brag about Genuine International Popularity their faves need to enter BB hot 100

  • Anything below that is not global popularity is actually just popularity amongst international fans in Kpop. Bg stans except armys need to stop bragging about global impact. Embarassing since their faves struggle in domestic charts, they bragging about Spotify stream instead.

    Approved the thread.
  • If US is the only other country besides Korea on Earth, then I probably live in Mars.

  • At a minimum. In truth, they should be able to chart albums AND songs in the top five markets in the world. (US, JPN, UK, Germany, France.) Obviously charting elsewhere is nice too, but numbers are numbers and these are the most impactful markets.

So far, only BTS has done this in a meaningful way (not only charting, but having longevity and getting certifications) but Blackpink is promising on this front, too, and may be able to chart more relevantly with their next release.

  • Why just bg? This is true of gg too.

The only groups and artist that have been on the Hot 100 are:

    - Wonder Girls

    - Psy

    - CL

    - BTS (and member solos)

    - Blackpink (and member solos)

    - Twice

That’s it. And most of those were only on the chart 1-2 weeks. Outside of BTS, only Psy Gangnam Style (31 weeks) and Gentleman (15 weeks) and Blackpink Ice Cream (8 weeks) lasted more than 2 weeks.

  • The BB Hot 100 is an American chart. America=/=Globe.

Entering the BB Hot 100 just shows what is popular in one country and doesn't mean anything to other countries.

  • I don't think it should only be hot100 since u.s not the world. Problem is they most can't chart ANYWHERE, not just korea

  • Kill This Love lasted 4 weeks on Hot 100.

  • Please is America the only country in the global? This is coming from an American btw we ain’t the only people on this earth

  • Kill this love did 8 weeks too

  • I agree with the post above. Chart top 5 simultaneously on the biggest music markets in the world upon release of new song. The US, Japan, UK, France, Germany

  • ...this type of overly inflated view of self-importance is why people keep dragging us Americans.

  • you're either an american who thinks the world revolves around the usa or your faves are just flopping on Spotify

  • Tell me you're American without telling me you're American

what, don't you know that US is global???? don't you know that every artists needs to adhere to our standards, our rules, and our cultures? as an UStizen, i don't need to know other country's cultures or rules or way of life, but they need to know mine, which is the big'o U S of A.

rule for thee but not for me

  • I always find it funny when certain bg fans call their faves global when their fave’s song can’t even chart in korea let alone OFFICIAL CHARTS per country. lol

  • Not at all. Billboard and its charts just shows where they chart not how popular they are and isnt kpop prove that charting=/= popularity?

  • Americans thinking the world revolves around them again
