Who paved the way ?

  • Army say BTS paved the way

But BTS say Psy paved the way in the US

Suga expressed his gratefulness to PSY, saying, "He was always someone I was grateful for. He paved the way with 'Gangnam Style' for K-pop in the U.S. so that we were able to follow his footsteps with ease.”

  • road construction folks i suppose

  • well both paved the way for your faves. that's for sure!

  • Deep down we all know bts paved the way for acts in the west but no one would admit it because it hurts their pride.

  • Deep down we all know everyone contributed to paving the way.

Psy was the one who really had the biggest breakthrough.

There's a reason why there's a before or after psy in kpop

  • Why does it matter who paved the way? In the real world no one really cares who was first, it's just kpop stans who keep arguing over it for their own egos.

  • Paved the way never meant that they are sole contributors for the said thing.

It's funny how it's so easy for some k-pop fans to take suga's words at face value and disregard what psy himself and other k-pop groups(their faves) have said too. I've always seen them arguing against BTS paved the way narrative but it's my fault for expecting anything else from other 2nd and 3rg gen bg Stans.

Same way some ARMYs don't recognise Psy's or gangnam style's impact because however you phrase it, it did bring k-pop fans in. Much more than any other 2nd gen act. Not to mention the inclusion of yt views in the bb chart which gave BTS tons of exposure.

It will be easier to recognise BTS impact once people can start thinking beyond being pressed by ARMYs.

BTS are by far the biggest contributors to kpop's global popularity. There's no denying that but arguing about it with k-pop stans is also useless.

  • Bts paved the way. Everything about k-pop changed after bts won top social artist at bbmas. Psy or gangnam style didn't change anything for k-pop. K-pop today is what it is because of bts.

Oh my god i can't with some of u discreting all other kpop acts before bts. Gangnam style is the most popular kpop song even non kpop fans know that song. People know nothing about kpop till gangnam style. Kpop today is what it is because of multiple kpop acts not just bts. If the first kpop group didn't exist do u think bts would exist?

International music companies wouldn't be giving a f*about your fav idol groups if bts didn't make any noise out there. They're being invited on big festivals and shows and given a chance out there all because of BTS .BB had to remove social chart because y'all started using cheap tactics to chart your favs there after bts and it lost the credibility. Gangnam style was bigger and whole kpop and psy, it didn't pave the way for anyone but psy.

Y'all acting like kpop was making any noise in US before kpop. Gangnam style didn't even helped psy to have a stable career in kpop. Bts charted out there, got tons of awards and achievements and then west took interest in kpop groups, signed them under their companies. Pushed their English tracks in the hopes of finding a bts 2.0. If you weren't there before 2016 stfu and stop making shit up.

Kpop was very local before, 3rd gen wasn't even making any noise in japan till twice debuted.
