    according to their producer their name was inspired by the apostle "Sandalphon" of the Anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, it reminded him of some sort of sandal and telephone... yeah, the origin of their name is kinda weird


    there was another alternative explanation i believe in an interview with Natalie.mu but i don't recall which


    to add some more background their predecessor group was "Shuuengo Buppan", they disbanded around 2018 and relaunched as "Sandal Telephone" in 2019, only Mai Komachi (black hair girl) remains from the original line up, she is a really, really great singer, i would definitely call her one of the best vocalist in the idol scene

    her Final concert its on December 29th

    that's sad, Sandal Telephone are one of my favorite new gen J-groups and despite all the problems i still think they gave us a really good year

    apparently it was because of the free time created by the pandemic that she reconsidered taking back her dream of becoming a Meteorologist,
    i wonder how many other artists have seen their lives changed for the same reason, i don't think they were expecting such a sudden …
