Is this relatively new in Japan? I know I went on the Hawks twitter and saw HKT48 on there. Not sure if they threw the pitch or just acted as cheerleaders or performed. I know it's pretty common in KPOP.

tbh i doubt it. i think i just started noticing it more over the last few years.
