Am I the only one who cringes when kpop fans call an idol "baby?"

  • This usually happens to the maknaes of the group but it's just so cringe to me when I'm talking to a kpop fan and theyll be like " I'm protective of Jungkook because he's the baby of the group" or "Lisa is literally a baby" (replace lisa and jungkook with any other group's maknae)

I just find it so cringe esp because most of the time they're teenagers calling a grown man/woman a baby and just the way they say it so casually like they dont even realize how cringe it is.

  • Not really, some kpop fans are really old, people sometimes forget that lol.

  • You're not the first to say this and you won't be the last. Lots of people hate when idols are called "baby".

  • It's super duper cringe, and so is the whole infantilising of adult idols. When fans give idols weird over the top praise for doing every day adult actions like cooking or a crude-ass drawing.

"OMG he cooked packet noodles! Our baby is a cooking KING!"

  • Kpop stans are always being cringe

  • Not just idols either. I cringe whenever anyone calls another adult "baby".

Makes any conversation sound like someone's reciting dialogue from a romance fanfiction.

  • Sometimes it’s a habit for people to call someone baby, bub, sweet heart & dude etc. It doesn’t have to be deep

I think people here are talking about comparing an idol to a baby rather than the "nickname" type like "hey baby, how ya doing?"
