anytime you mention a kpop idol's n-word scandal

  • Why do kpop fans get so mad whenever someone mentions a kpop idol's n word scandal as a reason to not liking them? Its a valid reason. Im not black but I am a woman and I've drop plenty of idols in an instant for misogynistic comments and no one gets mad when i say that but the second i say i don't like a kpop idol for racism, everyone and their mom is mad.

"They've apologized" and "They've changed" seems to be the go to answers if not a whole essay calling me a hater and telling me I need help. Like I don't even hate on the idol, I just don't like them. There's way too many k-pop groups and idols for me to stick to one that's misogynistic/racist. People need to stop taking things so personal and realize no one has to accept an apology.

  • Agreed. We should at least respect a person not accepting an apology of someone saying prejudice comments, be it racist or sexist or homophobic etc.

  • I don't get what's exactly the problem.

If you can have your own opinion that others don't like, then surely others can have their own opinion about that that you might dislike?

That's all part of the whole free speech thing, everyone can voice their opinion about anything, incl other people's opinions.

They can have their own opinion but why are they getting mad and attacking me for having my own opinion? I dont go around attacking them for accepting their idols apology so why are they attacking me for not accepting their idol's apology.

Racism is a valid reason to drop anyone, celebrity or not but kpop fans will get so mad when it's used as a reason.

  • well most kpop fans are women so they are obviously way more sensitive to misogyny than racism ( many kpop fans dont give a shit about racism no matter how much they pretend to )

Even this is arguable; my evidence being the countless fangirls defending trainee a's leo for his misogynistic lyrics and getting mad at people who bring it up because he apologized and "he's cute😀"

As long as it's within the rules of the forum, anyone's allowed to get mad and attack others. Just like you're allowed to respond by getting mad at them and attacking them. You cannot expect others to react the exact same way as you yourself react to situations and others.

This is aside from the topic of racism, or sexism, bullying etc.

Personally I think that the majority of all the so called scandals in K-pop regarding all those have little to do with racism, sexism, bullying etc at all.

But if people feel they want to drop an idol for any hints or accusations of those, that's within their own rights. It's their own feelings after all.

What are you even saying? My post is literally about how people dont think racism is a valid reason to not like an idol despite it being so.

And " Personally I think that the majority of all the so called scandals in K-pop regarding all those have little to do with racism, sexism, bullying etc at all" So what do you think all the n word scandals are about?

I can already tell you're one of the fans who excuses everything crying ignorance and I'm just going to stop wasting my time with you.

  • Ultimately we are all individuals, so what may be triggering or a sensitive topic for you, may not be for others and vice versa. We need to stop with this idea that we have to post every time people don't think like we do. Be an individual and appreciate your individuality.

  • Since someone is pointing out the fact that I'm not black. I just don't want to stan idols who are racist. There's way too many kpop groups for me to force myself to stick to a group/idol whose racist. Anyone of any race can hate racists.

The same for homophobic idols, islamophobic idols, etc. Not gay or Muslim but I'll drop them as well.

Good for you, you can drop or support who you want.

At some point however, bringing up old incidents and jumping on all their vids and clips to continuously bang on about it becomes harassment.

Ignorant actions do not automatically make someone racist or sexist or whatever else.

Many people grow, many people learn, many people change.

It appears that maybe you are one of those that cant.

  • That's how it will go though. You're allowed to mention it. And fans are allowed to point out that there was an apology. Because otherwise it will snowball and pick up lots of outrage from the brand new stans.

Korea is a homogeneous culture and for a long time it wasn't known widely that it was offensive to use the n word. It was something people would hear in rap songs and think was cool. So when they find out it's considered offensive, and they apologize and never do it again, I don't know that you can ask anything more really?
