is tomboy national hit or not?

  • Too early to tell

  • No such thing as a nation hit lmao only ppl on app say that

But it’s looking to be huge regardless, we gotta wait to see. Some songs have huge peaks then fall of fast

  • Ofc it's a hit it bagged more paks than next level. But ofcs y'all gonna question its popularity since its not a big3 gg.

  • it's a big hit but not a national hit

  • By akp standards, a national hit is when little children likes to sing the song and when other idols do the challenge. Schools even ban the song because children sang it non stop. Hmm what else I’ve encountered when stans want to justify their faves are national hits. Oh yeah. Need to see if other idols will do covers for this song even after a decade. If you tick all the boxes, it’s a sure fire national hit. PAKs, charting or awards are secondary. The school children and idols are the indicator of national hits.

  • it's a galactic hit. It currently ranks #1 in the CoRoT-7 and TRAPPIST-1 systems.

  • does that song make a huge impact outside the kpop niche? is it at a level of Gee, DDD, Cheer up or even Next Level? i dont think so.

  • You guys really know what national hits mean. Your somg will be sing/cover and dance by all ages person. Got play alots in tv, got use in events. Tomboy is otw to be huge hits but national hit we will need to wait a bit

I heard that the song plays everywhere and that every idol and their mother is asked to do the Tomboy challenge. So maybe it is.

  • It will be. It just needs to serve longevity so it can be a "chart- certified national hit" or whatever the excuse is, which im sure it will.

Tomboy is big in korea, GIDLE just doesn't have enough international fans to over-hype it like the rest of kpop hits.

  • Wait for the longevity, if it beats even Bigbang song then I'll say that it is totally up there

  • Not sure what the standards of “national hit” are but it’s the biggest 4th gen song. If Tomboy isn’t a national hit no group that debuted in 2018 or later has come close to releasing one.

  • If Next Level is a national hit (Like I would know, I'm not Korean) then Tomboy is too.

  • next level barely made an impact internationally and big3 stans love calling it a national hit so tomboy also qualifies imo

There is no correlation between national hit and international impact. Butter has much higher peak ULs, uncountable RAK CAK PAK, and international achievement but at the end Next Level pulls ahead in sk. It has massive impact nationally, look at how it was used in presidential election, korea rocket launch, and as theme for sbs entertainment award. It is no regular kpop big hits.

  • Highest UL peak and longest-running song at #1 by a girl group since Rollin, which encompasses Next Level.

So if Next Level is indeed a national hit, Tomboy is one too most likely.

  • But it's also true that even with more number of paks Rollin didn't end up bigger than next level. Next level charting is next level.

Do you have a brain? Read what you just posted. NL charting is NL but Rollin charted better.

Rollin was way bigger and more popular in SK than NL. You need to get your head checked.

  • Rollin is a way bigger hit that next level, what are you even talking about

It's not lol. Charting wise next level is eating up rollin.

Do you have a brain? Use that to check out the charting of both songs. Rollin was a fad. Rollin only did 40 weeks top50 while nl is doing 45 weeks and counting. If anything rollin will end up as nothing much in front of nl.

  • What’s going on? Of course it’s not. The national hit title is being thrown around way too easy

  • It's not lol. Charting wise next level is eating up rollin.

Rollin will forever be legendary for the circumstances, next level will fade to just be a regular big hit.

  • When is a hit a national hit?

Are there any known criteria that defines a national hit? If so, I'd like to know.

  • I will believe that once I see the videos of the military, grandmas and little kids dancing and singing to Tomboy like it was with Next Level

  • The opposite is happening lol. Rollin is fading away everyday. Brave girls forgotten and flopping and going to queendom . Aespa getting hits, cfs and selling albums .

years from now people will remember the miracle of rollin, much like how hani's "up and down" fancam is still referenced despite hani's irrelevance now. "next level" will just be a big hit like "red flavor" which no one even remembers anymore.

  • If people considered kick it as national hit I don't see why tomboy is not when it's so much bigger. You just doubt it cause they're not from big 3 companies

  • A national hit is a song who was successfull in the chart but also reach people of every age in the nation

People are looking stupid trying to act like Next Level isn't a national hit

When it's play in every variety show

Every idol dance to Next level

Baby were singing and dancing to next levl

Even grandma were dancing to next level

People used next level for their wedding etc ....

Even korean medias are presenting Next level as the song who took by storm South korea so people still trying to deny next level impact as a national hit are dumb

  • U can’t call next level a National hit and then say tomboy can’t be when it has broken a lot of the records set by next level in such a short period. Make it make sense

  • Even after ignoring hundreds of paks that tomboy has, Next level didn't even got #1 on gaon charts but tomboy did, its obvious tomboy is a bigger hit than next level, no point in denying.

Here let me get u understand chart.

Getting number 1 on melon or Gaon is relative. It's depend on releases and timing. It does not mean 1 song is bigger than other with paks.

Best example is Butter vs NL. Butter got tons of PAKs, more than 200 i think, alot more than Tomboy. Butter also got way more number 1 on melon and Gaon.

Almost a year in, and its still charting 15 place below NL on Melon. BTS songs are known for longevity. NL is currently holding the record for most week in the Top 10 of melon and gaon with 27 weeks, and no GG song is even close. It is going to break the record for top 50 and top 100. Look at this stat and you know how insane NL has been. Also, Tomboy has not broken any GG record yet. Forget about 4th gen record lol. Also, don't get me even mention about impact.
