Why don’t kpop groups sing live?

  • It’s boring af with the performances.

Mv with great concept, dance practice = ace

Live? Freakin sing live! It’s SO boring with all the talking. Sing more, dance less?

    Why?

Plenty of groups did it back in the day (5 years ago). Wtf happened?

  • A lot of idols are rushed to debut = bad live singing

Sometimes choreo are just too hard to sing on = bad live singing

Very packed schedule meaning idols are very exhausted on stage = bad live singing

    Most important :

A lot of fans don't even care

    and

Some fans delude themselves into thinking they sing live (like wrestling)

  • Because choreos are getting harder and harder each year and it's tiring and hard to sing stable while dancing. And if the idols sing live but end up not sounding good fans will bash their singing :clown:

  • Because kpop groups are all injured and lipsync is a crutch.

  • CONCERT

just attend an offline or online concert

  • Idols these days aren't talented singers so they use lip sync to compensate. But when a lot of big name groups do it it gives the green light for everyone to do it, there is no disadvantage after all. It's got to the point even someone like Taeyeon has no use in singing live on shows anymore.

  • Fair enough on music shows but live concerts?

Then I’d rather just stream the album.

What’s the point in concerts then?

    Seeing them irl?

Music shows might not be the place you'll find live singing that much due a multitude of reasons.

But Taeyeon did 25 min of high quality live singing on the Killing Voice, and that's more than most groups sing live in an entire comeback.

To answer OP, if you want to hear K-pop artists' live singing, check in on their radio shows, vlives, a capellas, concerts and performance shows like Killing Voice, Masked Singer etc.

  • Yeah it sucks. Live is always much more fun even when it's not perfect.

Tbh I can't even enjoy my own faves performances anymore because they lipsynch all the time in music shows, I stick to watching MVs, dance performances or old performances where they sung live.

  • Whatever you're into, is whatever you're getting. It's like you're hanging out with people who don't shower then be like 'why do I smell?' Maybe not the best analogy, but you know what I mean.

OP, I suggest you watch different group if you really want to see live singing; Mamamoo, StayC, Weeekly, Dreamcatcher, GIDLE, even Itzy sings live, etc.

But music shows and gayos are the supposed to be the main places where you are idols sing, live or not. That's the whole point of music shows too, otherwise they could simply air 5 mins simply running down the rankings. If the only live singing people can see are at pay to attend concerts or very specific occasions like a online YouTube channel then kpop is in a really really sad state.

Well basically I just want a group to sing live. So if it says “live performance” I want live singing.

I have seen the mv, the dance performance, now I want to see you connect with the audience and have fun and bring me music you know?

I know it’s a genre thing but then I’ll probably prefer not to attend concert and just listen to the music :-P

Reasonable. If I pay for a concert, I also hope to see them vibe, talk, and sing with the audience.

I'd be more forgiving with MMM lipsynching, as we all know they can do it live and liked it live. So if they lipsynch, probably out of their control. I'm not going to hold it against them yknow?

But fair take, I should of state it as 'singing live majority of time'.

  • weird.. I remember I saw one of svt members lipsync on their live concert
