I'm posting this because I'm seeing a lot of misinformation being spread, doing it on anon since I don't feel like being personally attacked today.
1) Mingyu's collage is about the fashion industry, particularly about the image it projects and the reality of it. The full piece is two separate collages that sit side by side. The first one is the "clean" one (the surface of the industry) and the second one is the one which created this controversy (the reality of the industry). Hence the focus on different fashion shoots, the camera, the brand names and phrases used, and the fact that includes male models as well which people like to ignore. Mingyu himself has done modeling runways and mentioned not liking the experience. While he's never made any official statements on this piece, this is the most common interpretation from people who actually look at it objectively. Personally, I don't think it looks nice and it's very amateur but the message is very clear.
Look at them side by side and think about entire picture and the intended message, don't just focus on random parts.
2) This collage was posted without his permission and seemed more like a vent piece of anything. He never intended this to be public and the person who framed it, shared it before deleting it. I've seen people choose to ignore the most likely reason behind this piece being the fashion industry (and not his desire to hurt women) and start talking about how he should be responsible for how it comes across. If he wanted to make it public, yes, he would be. But he never wanted this to be public, this art was only for himself or whoever he made it for if it was a gift.
3) This is most important! Mingyu's collage did not include images of actual dismembered women. The images themselves were cut apart but they were from fashion magazines, he did not take from images of dismembered and murdered women like some people have said. That's just disgusting to make up and shows where someone's heart is to make such lies.
4) It’s highly questionable if the red paint is even made to be blood or if it’s just following his usual “artistic” signature. He splashes paint across every collage of his, usually red paint. He even has a collage of Seventeen “dismembered” and splashed with red paint. Does he wish to see the members (including himself) murdered now? I will say that the red paint, even in the context, makes sense as blood on the controversial collage considering the message he was trying to convey of the harsh and seemingly brutal reality of the industry. Whether or not it is blood is up to interpretation but I wouldn't rule it out.
5) Mingyu’s red post could be in favor of the election and could not be in favor of the election, we don’t now the reasoning behind it. Mingyu commonly matches a colored emoji heart to whatever he’s wearing. This is not something new and could have been an oversight. It wouldn't be the first time an idol did something tone deaf but it also wouldn't be the first time a man was openly sexist. Who knows! And unless he says something, we don't.
6) Mingyu’s bullying accusations have already been cleared and dealt with, please stop spreading misinformation. Even if you choose to interpret the last two situations how you want, this one is just honestly not up for interpretation at this point.
7) Lets not blindly hate on idols and think critically before we spread hate and misinformation. And if I’m wrong and he really is a women-hater with murderous tendencies, guess I’m a fool and my bad for this post!
