Relationship question

  • My bestie is 14 and dating a 15 y.o guy, she's in 8th grade and he's in 10th. I haven't dated so i was curious, is it fine to date someone two grades above you and 1 and a half years older?

I don't wanna come off as intrusive, but i'm just wondering since i dont really see it a lot outside of movies lol

Its fine. Not that much of a big deal.

What's not ok is if the guy is a adult / of legal age dating a minor.

  • omg do you think people only date people the same age as them :cryingr: it's fine and if you're adults dating people with more than 5 year age differences is normal i mean some even have 10+ years age differences :mukbang:

  • Of course it is as long as the male is under 18

haha maybe cause u guys are still young but it's normal and u're welcome <3

  • hahhahha imagine only dating people who are the exact same age

no one does that unless they happen to be the same age/ if it's a coincidence

  • omg y'all so young

  • wow.. kids nowadays dating really young..
when I was 15, I only wonder how to cheat on my math without getting caught

  • damn didnt know kids this young were on the forum :wow: .

For seriousness, in short, it is not a problem as long as BOTH are COMFORTABLE with it. However, let's say they do break up and there's another guy that's 18+ and both started talking, I would advise her to tread carefully. Because he would be considered an adult. If he's that age, he shouldn't go after a minor anyhow. If it happens, he would be dating a minor (of course depending on states/country law you're in).

For all those comments you read regarding 'you don't only date in your age range' type of comments, I would like to point out that yes, when you matured later on, age comes with experience and you'll figure out by yourself that as long as you're happy, safe, and comfortable, dating someone younger or older does not matter. HOWEVER, that is only if both parties are considered adult already. I don't want you to get the wrong ideas from these similar comments that since its ok to date someone not your age group, a 14 years old can date someone who's 20+ years old.

    1. As long as she's OK with it and the person wasn't an adult from the get go.

    2. Consent is sexy.

    3. Use protection.

    4. It's also OK not to date anyone or try to find anyone until you're ready/comfortable.

    5. Don't follow the general trend that just because people around you are dating, you will have to, too.

  • Lmao why would u come to this den of virgins and social outcasts for relationship advice? Speak to someone who you trust, like a family member or even a school therapist.

Ahh, the doctor is in. Please advise where you got your PHD from.
