Did the rule change affect "Stay Alive"’s debut on the Hot100?

  • It’s no surprise that a lot of people (including me) are disappointed by how low "Stay Alive" debuted on the Hot100.

Especially that Butter was on top of the chart for 10 weeks and more last summer, blocking REAL massive smash hits like "Good 4 U".

I’m not saying i expected the song to go #1 (it’s a korean ost) but to see it debut so low (#95) is… underwhelming.

Do you think the rule change affected it’s chart performance or is it just a lack of support from Armys?

  • I mean it probably did effect it in some form

But at the same time it wasn’t hyped up like butter or dynamite. It didn’t pull close to the streams those two did. Nor did it have the full support of army’s like a bts comeback would

  • From a non-fan perspective, Butter and Dynamite were heavily promoted English singles. I knew about them before launch and they were everywhere from IG ads in my feed to late night TV appearances to Samsung ads. In contrast, I didn’t know about this song until it came out and someone posted it here on AKP. So it’s not really the same thing.

You should be celebrating the power of Army to move an OST in Korean with minimal promotion onto the Billboard charts instead of complaining about it not being higher.

As others have said, the promotion of Butter and Dynamite are vastly different to Stay Alive Having said that, smash hits right? Yet her tour consists of venues no larger then 5k. Even kpop groups can do better lmaoo
