I bet its for her scalp. I heard long hair like that can pull a lot simply because of weight. On top of that she's doing kpop dancing soooo.

I feel like all idols have to cut it at least this short eventually to remove the damage from dying it, then they just wear extensions on stage. They should have left her hair alone, it was so silky.
