Online forms sent to consumers of Korean culture not limited to K-pop: films, tv, music, games, food, etc.
I don't know how they sample the surveyees.
-
not a single 4th gen group/idol made it on that survey, 2nd and 3rd gen are still leading in international recognition

Even Blackpink got a measly 4% in the US so why would whoever you're talking about make it on the list?
People were recently talking about how 3rd gen is over but not a single group or person from 4th gen made it anywhere on the lists.
Some interesting points:
- I was expecting skz in Russia and other European countries since people say they are quite popular there but no
- Psy made it high on a lot of countries even though people try to discount his popularity after gs
- The gap between Blackpink and BTS was so huge outside of a few countries. Brazil was a surprise since people were saying bp was huge there. I remember some users saying they are the biggest kpop group there after they blew up with hylt
- I was surprised about India. Bp gets a lot of views from there second only to BTS so their numbers were surprising
- Shocking how some groups didn't make it on the Japan list. Maybe 4th gen and some 3rd gen weren't included in the survey

To be fair, Psy blew up everywhere and yet when he tried to hold a concert overseas nobody showed up. The popularity of this list is valid but it feels more about exposure than anything else. Or, more specifically, just pop culture in general. The awareness of it. Surface level stuff that even most randos would know or recognize.
What 4th gen has is a different kind of popularity. They are big in their niche but have yet break out of that and become well known names across the globe.

Big in their niche? Then it's still those acts on the list. Plus a huge gap then 4th gen.

Yes, there is obviously some overlap.
