Blackpink are still behind exo & twice in overall terms. Exo have 13.7m sales and Twice have 10m sales. Bp are yet to reach 3m mark. That is a huge gap. Bp are ahead in other things but the gap isn't that big between them and other 2 in those stats.

So far internationally bts is first and second is blackpink, doesn't matter the gap. Blackpink manage to be different and can compete with western acts. With the 'seemingly' genuine friends and connections they made, they will be going strong for a long time

if we are going to selectively collect stats, why hasn't EXO even charted in BB Hot 100 yet? Twice has at least charted on Hot 100, but the gap is huge (BP highest peak - #13, Twice highest peak - #83). It's foolish to say the gap between isn't big.

Do you give charting in one country more importance than physicals sold across career? That one country isn't even their home country.

Overall I think EXO is still a bit bigger, not in 2020 / 2021 though

The over all sales argument against BP is wrong, as they only had 3 albums in their career... ONLY THREE

Square Up has around 450k (2018)

Kill this Love has around 550k (2019)

and The Album has around 1.5M (2020)

Lisa alone has around 700k (2021)

And Rose around 450k (2021)

And HYLT single alone sold about 300k

These sales are big, if BP released more albums frequently like TWICE or EXO they would've crossed the 10M mark long time ago

Charting in Korea they smash. Much better than EXO, and in the recent years much better than TWICE. International no contest there.

Girls individual popularities are insane too, Jennie being one of Korea hottest in demand.

So, please, BlackPink are the 2nd top group of 3rd gen, no contest.

Yes by far, though some onces still trying to convince themselves twice are bigger for having more album sales with 10x the amount of releases. The fact blackpink still outstreams them by a lot on youtube & spotify with little amount of songs is kinda embarrassing.

Quantitative ranking of kpop groups tiers. I included most of big 2nd gen to 4th gen groups (the ones who have sold 1+ million, have any KMAs or are in top 20 Korean artists on Spotify).

The ranking is based on equally weighted physicals and digitals (50% Korean, 50% Youtube+Spotify).

Tiers are based on clustering of final ranking index.

yeah it's pretty obvious... even while doing the bare minimum which is totally unfair

Blackpink is definitely bigger than exo

Exo obviously have much more sales and all that other stuff but i think blackpink is much more successful rn than exo was during their prime so if they get to have a couple of more years as a group and consistent comebacks they're definitely gonna take exo's place.
