Oh. Korean women's volleyball league is not any less juicy nor dramatic to K-showbiz.
Jo Songhwa, a setter of IBK, left the dorm without notification after a match with KGC to protest against Seo Namwon, the head coach of the team. A higher-up of the team successfully convinced her to play the match against Peppers on Nov 16, which was the first winning match of IBK. Still, she left again after the match, not alone this time. She left together with Kim Sanee, an assistant coach, ex-setter who started her coaching career with IBK a year ago. Kim Sanee repeatedly fought with Seo Namwon, who joined the team this season. Kim Sanee thought his coaching method and his treatment on some certain players were not appropriate. Additionally, a staffer of IBK shared that Kim Sanee had to take care of her sick family member thus, she saw no solution but to leave.
These are not all of it. Player A had been upset with the new head coach and ignored his substitute signals. Player B's parents had asked for her to be traded to another team after Kim Sanee kept picking on her eating habit as Kim Sanee thought she had weight control problem.
With this dramatic chaos and 7 losses record of the team, the image of IBK, the state enterprise owning the team, has tarnished. A decisive meeting would take place after a match with Hyundai E&C on Nov 20.
It was also an epic drama revolving Lee Dayoung, ex-setter of Heungkuk, in which the legendary superstar Kim Yeonkyung was shrouded.
Someone has to develop a makjang volleyball drama based on true story. It will be even more dramatic than any volleyball manga. Some real life volleyball players are such eye candies too.
