Ah that depends. I don't like that we feel the need to go straight into something straight out of highschool. I mean, honestly college isn't even the path for everyone, and yet a lot of us just do it because we're expected to. And a job is something you can be stuck with for a long awhile so I don't think it's a good idea to leap into something without thought.
But in cases we're you're unsure of what you want to do, I think parents should be there to support you, and help you figure out what you want to do. They shouldn't be all like "OH GO BE A DOCTOR!!!1" or some shit, but it would be good of them to help guide their child to something they might like and explore their interests. A hands off approach isn't ideal in these cases.
