I always thought this was obvious but I didn't know how much of it was happening. Obviously when a kpop idol does something offensive, it is perfectly reasonable to expect these two things:
> people to feel angry
> people to ASK for an apology or explanation
However, cancel culture (including in kpop) goes beyond two expectations:
> they want to cancel an entire idol's career
> they want to cancel their group
> they want to cancel their fans
> create the impression that if one person did something then everyone connected to that person must suffer severely, just because they offended black people
But then I realized the gaslighting when I saw them comment, "the majority of ifans are black". This is an obvious lie. The VAST majority of ifans are actually white people and Asians. So there's a segment of individuals creating a false narrative that all the cancel culture debacle is from black people. And this is very easy to do since people are hiding behind online anonymity and they often use digital black face.
Just look at Red Velvet's fanmeet in the middle of Wendy's racial controversy in Chicago where about 1/3rd of the population are black. If you zoom in, it's virtually all non-black people. And this might explain why SM and Wendy never even bothered to acknowledge her two black stereotype imitations, because there were no actual black people who they thought they needed to answer to who pay their salary.
