Why do non-troll fans claim to stan groups and then never post about them?

  • Trolls reasoning for fake stanning is pretty obvious but why do non-trolls fake stan? I often see multis claiming to stan groups but then never posting about them or interacting with posts about them. Sometimes these type of fans don't even know or care they had a comeback. I understand having an ult group but if you don't care about the other groups you "stan" are you really a stan and whats the point of claiming to stan a group if you don't even like them that much? For people who say they stan groups but don't check out their content and rarely talk about them, why do you consider yourself a stan?

I know this could be a discussion outside of anons but I don't want us to be linked to our fandoms and have people be personally called "fake fans" as this forum already has enough of those accusations.

  • What is there to say? OMG! I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I LOVE THIS COMEBACK SO MUCH. BEST COMEBACK EVER. PLEASE STREAM, BUY, AND SUPPORT! THEY PAVED THE WAY!

Is that what you want them to say? Because really, at some point, there isn't much to do except enjoy the music, the music videos, and the content. There's only so much praise you can give, and even then, a lot of what you want to say has already been said before by other stans who are much more vocal (and sometimes controversial) than you.

  • Because they don't have to there are other places to interact with these groups outside of allkpop you don't know what they do outside of these forums

  • Just let people stan how they want to stan. There's no correct way to do it. Sure, trolls give multis a bad name, but there are also multis who just want to enjoy the music in peace. The most they could do is say, "Wow, this comeback is amazing." But it's not within every person's nature to hype things up, write whole reviews, or fight with others who have a different opinion.

Just let them be them instead of judging and questioning.

No? If they don't do that for any group its one thing but for people who do that for one or a few other groups but never do it for another then it is weird. Once again raising my question of why do you consider yourself a stan of a group you don't care about? And not every discussion has to be about praise or bragging? If that's the only way to stan then wow.

How do you know they don't care about the group? Maybe they do care, but they find it intimidating to speak to other stans about it here.

It could be that the fandom has a certain reputation. It could be that bringing up the group's name has a tendency to start fanwars. It could be that they're cool with both fandoms, so they don't want either side to question their allegiance.

People have their reasons for staying out of it.

  • in some cases, they are success stans :eyes:

  • If you want to rant about success stans, go ahead. Say "success stans." I'm with you there. Just don't bring multis into this because that just stigmatizes them even more than they already are.

  • I'm afraid it's a judgmental attitude like this that keeps them from wanting to interact with your fandom or talk about your favorites.

  • why is there gatekeeping in the way a fan stans an artist. lmao

I'm a multi myself so I have nothing against multis. The difference is I'm actually a multi with interest in the groups I stan and don't just tack on 10 extra groups idc about just to have their names on my list. It is a fact that some people who identify as a multi really only like one maybe two groups so I'm wondering what the point of fake stanning is?

Alright, that makes sense. Different reasons for everyone. Maybe sometimes they don't like the latest comeback, but they don't want to "unstan" just yet. Maybe there's more to discuss about the one or two groups they do talk about.

Or it could be that the definition of stanning is different for everyone. They see themselves as stans. You see them as casual fans.

  • I have a question. If I said I love pizza and it was my favorite food but then I never eat pizza and even reject pizza whenever its offered to me. But then I eat burgers, spaghetti, and fried chicken almost everyday and always pick them first. Would you truly believe that pizza is my favorite food or would you question it? I'm not saying people have to talk about a group everyday or constantly praise them but if you never talk about, look at posts about, or check out the content of a group why do you consider yourself a stan?

  • Maybe they're the chill type. And you don't have to be rabid about a group to be considered a stan. Or maybe, when the song comes out, they just stream relentlessly, quietly supporting the group.

  • You can enjoy the content without talking about them.

  • why do i have to be forced to publically display my affection for every group i stan lmao

plus, one of my ult solo artists isn't even acknowledged on akp. there's no point because i just get disappointed when no one can relate to my love for them smh.
