SuperM 2 years later: Avengers of kpop or Pretenders who flopped?

  • They are one of the few Kpop groups to top the U.S. album charts, so they are hardly the flops people make them out to be. (Yes there were bundles involved but other groups had bundles too and couldn’t top the charts.) SM made some poor choices in the promoted singles - the bsides are strong and had tracks that would have fit more comfortably into the US music scene. I also think another English speaker - or one more engaging than Mark - would have helped in the often awkward interviews. I think though that it did what SM also intended - to be a gateway to other SM groups. There is a solid core of people who got into EXO, Shinee, NCT and/or WayV through SuperM.

With super bundles . Please, no more

Mark's not engaging? That's news to me. If anything from the interviews I saw - he had a nice relatable presence. Who may I ask do you think would have been more engaging than mark - the only one I can think of would be Johnny and well he would not have been able to keep up with the dancing/stage presence of the others.
