The fact that they love Yuzuru, who is a multiple-time champion of different competitions and is Japanese, doesn't mean they love figure skaters in general.

They love figure skaters. Even Pluskenho, who is a Russian, still have a big fanbase there lol

It's applicable to famous skaters, Sunghoon wasn't a famous figure skater, so I doubt he has a big fandom because of that.
