It was a warm rainy spring day. The sky and the horizon were both the color of muddy water. At times a sort of mist descended, and then suddenly heavy slanting rain came down.
Nayeon in a pastel purple hooded sweater, from which the rain ran down, was walking with him from the food stall from whence they came. She shrank from the driving rain and gazed anxiously at Jungkook. His emaciated face looked angry.
'Well,' she shouted to drown out the rain, 'did you see Sana?'
'Give it a rest,' he yelled back.
Once they reached the entrance to her dorm, she breached the subject again. 'Did you see her or not?'
'Yes, of course,' returned Jungkook, evidently not listening to Nayeon and looking straight before him with a disconcerted look that did not leave his face. 'It was a place I quite frequent, and she was there. What do you want from me?'
'Fool,' retorted Nayeon. 'Don't talk nonsense! If you only knew...'
'No, really, give it up!' said Jungkook. 'I am speaking seriously. It's no joke, this plot you've hatched.'
'What? Why don't you f--- off!' said Nayeon, making a grimace. 'If you want to be with her, then don't put it on me,' and she left him.
'Oh, nonsense!' Jungkook shouted, with partiality dull-witted people have for any conclusion they have reached by their own reasoning, repeated the argument he had already put to Nayeon a hundred times.
