Did YouTube change something or did admins?

Was it always like this where the YouTube embed plays where ever you click on it instead of the middle play button? I could have sworn it only used to play when the middle play button was clicked

Omg I can’t stop these videos from playing as I scroll it’s making using the forum difficult for me

Can admins do something here or are we at YouTube’s mercy?

But I don’t want it to play in the first place and also if people are sharing many videos on a thread it becomes even more hard
