I've compared my data in detail with the graphic above, and have identified the discrepancies:

    • The graphic lists 8 wins for "Good Day", while I have 7. The Wikipedia page for Good Day agrees with my 7. If you can provide evidence of 8 wins, I would like to be proven wrong.

    • The graphic lists 3 wins for "Nagging", while I have 2. The Wikipedia page for Nagging agrees with my 2. If you can provide evidence of 3 wins, I would like to be proven wrong.

    • The graphic credits the win for "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms" to IU, while I believe it is more appropriately credited to High4.

High4 (hangul: 하이포; stylized as HIGH4) was a South Korean boy band under the management of N.A.P Entertainment. The group consisted of members Alex, Myunghan, and Youngjun. They officially debuted into the Korean entertainment industry on April 8, 2014 with the song "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms" featuring IU.

So overall, I do not quite trust the claim that IU has 85 wins.

Edited once, last by wsoet ().

  • The 2 iu chart accounts both claim 85 wins on 17th April. Even another account unrelated to iu stats puts it as 85. All of them made the same mistake in calculations?

This is possible, since I don't believe that all those accounts are actually putting together their own data sets like I am. My guess is that they are simply reporting what they have seen elsewhere.

What I would like to see from whoever is claiming 85 wins is a full listing of wins for Good Day and Nagging, with date and music show included. With this information, we can then figure out who is actually correct.

it's not a feature. even on melon and the other platforms the single credits both high4 and iu as the main artists

I can accept that. So now we just have the two extra claimed wins for Good Day and Nagging. Do you have any evidence for those?

that account also say kim gun mo have 84 wins while your list says 80 :/

    https://twitter.com/iu_stats/status/1381156239413940225?s=19

Yes I saw that as well. When doing my research, I noticed that there was a lot of conflicting information when it comes to music show wins from the 1990s, so it's difficult to determine who's actually correct.

  • I found this

I appreciate the follow-up. I see that you got the chart from this source. So the wins at hand are now the following:

    2010-06-25 Nagging [KBS-Music Bank]

    2011-12-23 Good Day [KBS-Music Bank]

For the first win in question, I found this YouTube video, which shows that Girls' Generation won with "Oh!" on 2010-06-25:

The issue here is that the Music Bank broadcast on 2010-06-25 was a special one to celebrate the top songs from the first half of 2010. There was no "regular" win awarded for the number one song of that week.

In fact, the namu.wiki source where the table above is from states the following: "상반기 결산일이라 시상은 없었으며, 당시 홈페이지에도 이 주의 차트가 직접 공개되지는 않았다. 즉 7월 2일자 차트의 순위 변동 내역을 통해 6월 25일도 1위인 것이 간접적으로 확인된 것이다."

That translates to: "There was no award because it was the settlement date for the first half of the year, and the chart for this week was not directly disclosed on the website at the time. In other words, it was indirectly confirmed that June 25 was also ranked No. 1 through the chart's change in ranking on July 2nd."

Thus, there was no actual award given to "Nagging". Music shows get cancelled all the time, so we cannot assign wins to songs that would have won if a normal broadcast and award had taken place.

You have a better case for the second win in question. I found this YouTube video:

In it, we see that IU's "Good Day" was determined to be the top song of 2010, while her song "You & I" was the "regular" weekly winner.

  • so whoever counted this date as a win made it up lol? ?(

  • so whoever counted this date as a win made it up lol? ?(

"Made it up" is a bit too harsh. Rather, I believe that the person was being very generous to IU in determining what counts as a win. This makes sense, since the person who went through the trouble of creating the namu.wiki page cited is probably an IU fan.

Other sources are more conservative. For example, Music Bank's Wikipedia page doesn't count it as a win. Neither does the Korean version of that page. The Wikipedia page for "Nagging" itself doesn't count it. The Korean page for "Nagging" even recognizes that the song deserved to win, but also states "시상 못함", or "Not able to award".

We are all in agreement that "Nagging" should have won on 2010-06-25, as the song's performance was strong enough to merit the win.

However, Music Bank didn't award a "regular" weekly win that day, so that's why I'm not counting it as a win.

To use a more recent example, M Countdown did not name a #1 song last week (April 22nd). Kang Daniel clearly deserved the win, and he actually won on every other music show last week. Do you expect me to give Kang Daniel an extra win because he would have won had M Countdown awarded a win as they normally do?
