what is the best layered cake recipe you tried?

    Honestly the best layered cake I’ve tried was a classic vanilla butter cake. It’s soft but sturdy enough to stack, and it stays moist even after frosting. I like sponge cakes too, but for layered cakes with buttercream I think butter cake works best.

    My Post from a Cake thread, relatively easy to make. One tip to help the Cake release from pan, is ling the bottom of the Cake tins with parchment paper.

    German chocolate is my best cake. ah oh, do use box chocolate cake mix. Frostings from scratch. Coconut frosting and Chocolate frosting.

    Coconut pecan frosting
    • 2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts
