Fake OT4 and akgae against Lisa winning

    I don't think Lisa deserves hate but I don't think her win under kpop category being questioned can be considered xenophobia completely.


    She doesn't promote her recent solos in Korea. Plus, "born again" was very western centric through and through. Not a single word of Korean.... and performed with western artists.

    So it's understandable that people who feel that their kpop faves deserve better are feeling that her win is unfair. I get it.


    But yes, people need to avoid bashing Lisa for it. She likely didn't even want this situation to play out this way.

    What can she do??

    MTV just chose to be weird.

    Sorry, I didn't bring up xenophobia for that reason. I think kpop fans reaction to her winning was xenophobic. Many are saying she's not Korean or bringing up she's Thai is the reason it shouldn't be nominated. I don't think that part is okay because she's a kpop idol and her nationality shouldn't be in discussion when discussion eligiblity for a kpop award.


    At the end of the day, it's just the VMAs and not many care about the awards these days. So it's not that big of a deal if somebody wins or loses. I think MTV picks nominees based on popularity and don't really put much thought into it. They're using kpop to improve viewership for their award shows because viewership isn't what it used to be. I think it would be interesting if they included kpop groups and soloist in other categories. Good think APT was too big to ignore, so they had to make it eligible for other categories.
