How to respond to troll posts

Even though I think that I might have responded to some troll threads on this forum before.

But if I see someone on Facebook or Instagram comment something discriminatory or write troll comments, I don't respond.

Like I might think "Meh, this is just someone trying to get attention"

Some comments might make me roll my eyes and maybe those comments might affect me.

Like one post that I came across on Facebook, which was a meme that some would probably consider misogynist, or the meme said something like "women judge men based on their appearance and then they hide their own ugly faces with their makeup"

After scrolling past that I was almost thinking that I maybe should have responded with "Well... I'm pretty without makeup, so I can't relate.", but nah... and some people would probably call me ugly or say "Why are you mad? Are you on your period? LOL"

So, I can say that I felt kinda affected by it, but at least I didn't respond to it. (Even though I guess writing about this post is kinda me responding to it. So I lose this round, I guess.)

I agree with you. Sometimes certain comments do get under your skin, especially when they feel personal. Words can hurt, and it’s not always possible to just brush them off. But over time I’ve learned that being the bigger person matters more. If blocking is an option, I use it, and I’d rather have a quieter feed or forum than deal with negativity that ruins the experience. There’s already enough negativity in life, so I try not to give it space in places I’m supposed to enjoy.
