No, this wasn't inspired by the Coldplay concert incident.
I have kinda wanted to make this thread for a while, but have been like "nah..."
I can't remember what inspired me to make this thread.
Perhaps it was the kdrama "The Hymn of Death", despite me never having watched it.
That kdrama is based on a true event, where a soprano and a married playwright had an affair.
And I had kinda thought that the kdrama perhaps romanticized cheating. (or at least the fact that he is cheating on his wife)
But well... I'm also currently writing a story, where the main character is a married woman, who is emotionally cheating on her husband.
Or at least she has feelings for this other guy and wishes that she had married him instead. (He doesn't even know that she has feelings for him and only sees her as a friend).
And I once wrote a fanfic, where the main character cheats on her rich husband with a handsome guy that she met at a bar, while her husband is traveling in a different country.
She lies to that guy about being single.
And later in the fanfic, after having dated that guy for a few days, she decides to tell him that she is a married woman and breaks up with him. (the reason is because she found out that her husband is coming home from travel)
Her husband never finds about it but later divorces her a few months later because of a silly reason unrelated to cheating.
And then she meets that guy again at the bar and they get a kinda happy ending together, where they become friends... or perhaps more than that...
In some movies and stuff, cheating seems either like "Oh, he is such a jerk for cheating on his wife" or "Well, her husband is a jerk, so I'm glad she cheated on him with a handsome guy with a sweet personality"
Or this probably depends on whether it is a character that the audience is rooting for or not.
But I guess that in fiction that include cheating, audiences are often like "Oh, are they going to get caught?".
I think in real life, most people agree on the fact that cheating is a bad thing.
And they wouldn't want their partner to cheat on them.
