In 1864, President Abraham Lincoln of the Republican Party chose Democrat Andrew Johnson as his running mate and won.
In 2008, John McCain of the Republican Party expressed regret for not choosing independent Senator Joe Lieberman for Vice President, chose Sarah Palin instead, and lost.
If I ran for POTUS, I think I would like choose a vice president from a different political party as long as I'm allowed to.
