Have the west been warming up to the korean beauty standawrd shown by Kpop idols?

  • I believe the west mostly reacts to KBS well. I haven't noticed any negative or adverse reaction from the west. Furthermore, there are a lot of Asian Americans that have adapted korean routines and styles. I don't think the west ever disliked the current KBS.

  • I would say the West's younger generations, say Gen Z and Gen Alpha, are warming up to it. I noticed they even take inspiration from the Korean beauty standard at times.

Overall, though? Not quite there yet. It's still a niche.

  • If you're talking about western appeal, then idols that have a balance of both are appreciated more. Having a stronger lower third and midface is quite important in the west but balancing that with kbs can be difficult.

Either you go all the way with kbs and build a niche or cater to both standards. I think those are the only 2 ways Idol visuals can be appreciated in the west.

  • I have seen extreme vitrol to kbs. Like flat out mocking the white faces and calling all idols plastic. Asian beauty products are gaining popularity for sure but idol beauty, no.
