I've always thought of EXO as a 2.5 gen group haha. But their debut is widely agreed to basically have started the 3rd generation. The same way generations amongst irl people are not black and white, it is not necessarily as simple as "2nd generation ended on this exact day and 3rd generation start at 12:01 AM the following day"
