Young Posse's collab with Rockstar Games is MASSIVE!

  • Just because they changed some things, they still have to ask for permission, because the base designs are the same on every promo they did. Obviously this isn't a full-on collab, unless they say otherwise, but I'm 100% sure they asked for permission, because that's the way. They could be sued for using RG's templates.

You know what if it turns out that they didn't ask permission and this is really a slippery slope case of IP infringement and Fair Use.

This post is Exhibit A material for Rockstar lawyers: "See, somebody is already confusing that our company is in collaboration with this Kpop group. We are not a part of any of this. Please stop using materials that closely resemble our IPs and take this down immediately"

Edit: Actually, I'm pretty sure they didn't ask and hiding behind the idea of Fair Use and hoping Rockstar Games won't even bother about any of this.

Like do you think you can just phone Rockstar asking them if you can ride on their multibillion dollar brand and they will just say Yes?

It's either they say No or Yes but you need to cough up some $$$.

It’s uncertain whether or not YP did ask for permission from Rockstar Games. But because there is no actual mention of Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar Games, or the use of a Rockstar Games logo, it’s unlikely that this is considered to be any kind of collaboration between the two and is enough to prove Rockstar Games doesn’t have anything to do with the album making.

It’s possible for Rockstar Games to sue YP, if they believe both contents are similar enough and said content is being infringed upon. Also, if there is enough confusion to make it seem as if it is a collaboration, that is also enough evidence for a lawsuit.

YP’s team could try and pass it off as a parody, but YP has not only done this with Grand Theft Auto, there is also their ‘YPS’ logo one of of the concept photos that resembles UPS’ logo.

Did you forget this is Kpop? Where plagiarism is rampant? It's very likely they didn't ask for Rockstar's permission to use their aesthetic, in which case they could be in some serious doo-doo. I don't know how much legal protection Rockstar can put on these particular designs, but it's extremely obvious that the whole concept is based on GTA, which could be enough to create problems for them. It wouldn't even be the first time Rockstar has gone after someone for supposedly copying their logo, and that was more of a reach.

Well, like you said, you can use anything if you pay for it, and I'm a graphic designer, so these designs are not that expensive, so I'm pretty sure their company did pay for it.

Like I said above, if they paid for it, there's no problem here, and I'm 100% sure they paid for, because if not, they wouldn't use it in the first place.

I don't think anyone is or will be confused by this, because this isn't a game, it's a Kpop album from a "nugu" group, so there won't be any problem.

This isn't HYBE, this is two small agencies, DPS and RBW, they don't do things like this. It's 100% clear and obvious they asked for permission. A small agency won't do anything like this, because they don't have billions to lose on a lawsuit.

They're promoting this album for more than 2 weeks now, and after the release it's another month or so. If Rockstar didn't say anything yet, they never will.

Smaller companies still plagiarize all the time. None of them do it expecting to get caught. If they had enough foresight to realize that was a possibility, even the biggest companies wouldn't do it. It's not worth the legal challenges or even just the bad publicity.

Everyone in the music industry using something from others, designs, or beats. Most people don't know, but companies actually pay for it, or have to.

But graphic designs are not as easy to steal as beats. With beats, you can say, oh it's just similar sound, but with graphics it's bloody obvious if someone used a template. Just like with this album. That's why I'm 100% sure they paid for it.

Many people, especially in Kpop fandom say, everything is plagiarizing, but they don't even think for a second that the companies actually paid for those things to use them.

Buying the license for these designs are like pocket money anyway, it would be ridiculous if they didn't do it.

  • We don't consider the possibility that these companies paid for the things they're plagiarizing because they usually don't. Otherwise the people they're plagiarizing wouldn't speak up & complain about it, which is how we usually find out. It isn't fans themselves looking for things that are potentially being copied, it's the people who claim they're being copied without compensation. Will we hear from Rockstar about this? Maybe, maybe not. But they've gone after people for less.

This is just my opinion but I HIGHLY DOUBT they paid because that would tank the entire financial viability of this Comeback or maybe even the their whole company.

I think you're too focused on the "design" but that's just one aspect of it, the entire IP of GTA V, the very fact that GTA is a very recognizable franchise, so if there is any fee it's gonna be in the milions of dollars. That is assuming Rockstar is even willing to engage in this specific kind of deal where their game is the entire basis of an album.

So yeah I stand by what I believe that there were no clear cooperation or communication between the two companies.

  • So yeah I stand by what I believe that there were no clear cooperation or communication between the two companies.

IF this happened, we're gonna find out soon, anyway. Their whole concept is inspired by GTA, I'm almost 100% sure that their new MV will be like a GTA game as well. IF I'm right, they can't do that without asking permission, because this isn't just using the same beat from another song.

  • MV Teaser!

Now it's bloody obvious they did something with Rockstar Games, because this is 1000% GTA inspired MV, and it looks so DOPE! 🤣

  • If Rockstar Games does not include this song in one of GTA VI's radio stations, I'll cry.

[ Realistically, I feel it's highly unlikely. But I hope I'm proven wrong!

But, they did get rights to include Seryoga's old 'King Ring' song for GTA IV's soundtrack.

So.... who knows what will happen?? I'm both skeptical and hopeful..... ]

Honestly, as much as I love the GTA series, the last game I bought was GTA 4 I think, but I'm not sure. Maybe I got that for free. But if they will include YP in any way in GTA 6 I will buy it.😂

Let's hope they made some deal, because I can't see DSP/RBW doing this MV and promotion without asking a permission. RG have to live under a rock if they won't see this.

BTW, people in the US can be happy now. I hope they will come to Europe as well.
