Let's stop the It Girl and Top Group debate right here bc it's delusional asf

  • Okay, so. This tread has different messages to everyone here:

Message to the Blinks, Armys and Onces:

Stop saying that 4th gen top groups (NewJeans, IVE, Le Sserafim etc) won't be able to be as "iconic" as your faves. 3rd gen groups had a long time to establish themselves. Ofc Blackpink is overall more popular than NewJeans. They debuted SEVEN (Or is it eight already) YEARS AGO. LIKE WHAT TF DO YOU EVEN EXPECT??? No, Jennie didn't become an It-Girl overnight, Blackpink wasn't as popular as they are rn the moment they dropped Whistle And Boombaya. GIVE THOSE GROUPS TIME. This is also directed at Twice and BTS stans. Stop comparing groups who are 1-4 years old to your faves. That's so unrealistic.

Message to the people who always shit on Wonyoung and compare her to other idols:

Stop comparing NewJeans, Le Sserafim or Aespa members to her. Wonyoung debuted in 2018. Aespa debuted in verrrryyyy late 2020 (it's basically 2021 already), IVE debuted in verrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy late 2021 (It's basically 2022 already) and NewJeans+Le Sserafim debuted in 2022. It's okay to look at other former Iz*One Le Sserafim members and be like "Oh yea, she kinda is more popular than them" bc that actually makes sense since they've been around for the same time now but not literal rookies.

Also, Wonyoung got way more support from her company than Aespa from their company.

And btw, if you really want proof of Wonyoungs success, google Wonyoungism and you'll get it.

  • Frankly, the whole 'it girl' makes no sense anymore, the term has been so often misappropriated and abused by K-pop stans to promote/push their biases, that it has lost any value to the conversation. Even more so since there's hardly any consensus on what defines an 'it girl'.

Same btw with some other overabused terms, like 'national hit', 'stage presence', 'paving the way' etc.
