As a new Shawol, I've heard about how SHINee was/is influential to k-pop, and that they set a lot of trends, but since I only became a k-pop fan in 2020 (and a Shawol a couple of months ago), I've never really had any context for that. The things I've heard the most are: that SHINee popularized dance practices (with Lucifer), that they introduced deep house to k-pop (with View), and that they made it a thing to dress casually at music shows (also with View.) I also know (because it's the anniversary of Base's release) that Jonghyun was the first (or one of the first?) SM artist(s) to have so much control over their solo releases. But other than that, everything I've heard has been a bit more generalized.
They're an amazing group, and I really want to have more context for these things with regards to k-pop as a whole -- as I said, I wasn't around back then to know what things were like. So... I'd be interested to know what specifically SHINee and/or the SHINee members individually influenced or changed, from the perspective of both Shawols and non-Shawols -- anyone who noticed the effect SHINee had on k-pop.
