The name was most likly chosen by Hiroomi Tosaka (Who is the CEO of the company that the girls are signed with, CDL Entertainment) since he loves the moon
I mean he uses the word "moon" in different languages and other words that have to do with the moon a lot as songtitles, parts of the lyrics, decoration in some MVs, as cover for some of his albums etc. and that just fits since the name of the company is French and stands for "Moonlight"
