Be honest, is going to the army actually good for BTS?

  • I mean it’s not like they released much music the last 2 years either. And their music hasn’t actually been very good recently. They can still release solos and the break time can give them new creative ideas. So is the army actually good for BTS?

  • I don't think the idea of military service is whether it's good for the individual conscripts.

It's just a guess but whether the group have to serve in military units or 9-5 non active service jobs, it's still work, and probably more hours than they've been doing over the last couple years. It's weird when stans think being in the military for 18 months will be a nice break from being pop stars.

(And omg at stans thinking the universe revolves around their fave boygroup... not surprised....)

  • you're still obsessed with this? get over it pls. decisions have been made so discussing it over and over again won't change anything.

  • I think they should just release solos, rushing the enlistment of all members and 2025 comeback won't do any good to anyone but the company. I'm an army but some members don't look happy with the direction they choose after BE. I hope they don't get guilt trip by so called fans and company and do whatever they want.

  • Yes because if they skipped military service the gp would have turned on them. They were already receiving criticism for delaying. Some fans would probably want to deny it but its true.

I’m sorry but you are literally speculating about stuff that you have no understanding of. How would you know how many hours they work. You might be surprised at how busy they are since they carry a billion dollar company on their backs. The way some fans and antis like to discredit BTS is disgusting. BTS built up HYBE and continues to be the main support of HYBE. That kind of financial responsibility isn’t maintained by working 9-5 or even 12 hours with weekends off. The lack of real world understanding among kpop fans is astonishing.

Did Run BTS pass over your head or something?

The whole JITB album served. You guys log on here with your hate against their English tracks to come and trash the rest of the discography

  • That’s not an answer for fans to say. If anyone can have an opinion on this, it’s BTS because they are the ones going to experience this

  • I don't support conscription so I won't say it's "good" for them.

In terms of their career, going to the military is a more beneficial choice though. If they didn't, the GP could turn on them, it's safer to go. They need the GP for their long term careers, to be able to go into variety and acting, and to maintain their soft power symbol status. On the contrary, I don't think they have a lot to gain in the West anymore. The English singles got them huge achievements but it also cemented their image there, which doesn't help their long-term growth.

  • Yes, they'll grow through their experience in the army.

  • I think it's good. I wish they wouldn't have to go but it's for the best.

The exemption would make them government's and HYBE's hostage forever.

And even of they have public support now, this could shift very easily with any minor controversy.

This way they don't have to answer to anyone.

  • It may save face for the Korean GP, but that’s never been their primary audience anyway. The loss of global visibility is an issue. Ideally, they should have done a huge world tour this year to close things out. They/HYBE/the government kind of wasted this year, which is a shame because they had a shit ton of momentum coming off that legendary Grammys performance.

Luckily, they have the good will of the global GP on their side right now (people were SHOCKED by this news) and this may work in their favor, but the labels need to keep members strategically visible and aligned with the right powers that be the next two years to ensure a huge comeback in 2025.
