the first 12 minutes of "The Birth of ExWHYZ", a 1 hour long documentary that is going to be included with some of the editions of ExWHYZ's debut album "xYZ"
in June of this year "EMPiRE" disbanded without explanation, some days later during their final concert it was announced that all the members were going to start a successor group called "ExWHYZ", this isn't just a name change but an actual new group
the video above is set a few weeks before that, Watanabe (WACK's CEO) called the members to a private meeting to tell them that EMPiRE was going to be disbanded, right when the members were sad and almost starting to cry he told them about the new group
he proceeded to tell them that the new group was going to be called "Penus" but it was a joke, the real name was "ExWHYZ" which none of the members knew how to pronounce
EMPiRE was a joint project between WACK (BiSH, BiS, etc) and Avex, Watanabe decided the best course of action was for them to join EMI Records (a subsidiary of Universal group) which is a much bigger company than Avex, another factor is that their sister group BiSH who is likely the biggest money maker at Avex are disbanding next year so that is going to have a big effect in Avex finances, in the long run joining EMI is for the best and it should be seen as a promotion
the caveat was they couldn't be EMPiRE anymore thus they decided it was a good time to start from zero again, EMPiRE could fill arenas, their major releases usually debuted at #1 in Japanese digital charts, they did the OP and ED songs for popular Animes like "Fairy Tail", "Black Clover", "High Rise Invasion" and were running multiple magazine and radio shows for different media sites, in general they were doing pretty wel sol hopefully they can do even better now
so far ExWHYZ's music is really good! that's a good start, their debut album "xYZ" goes on sale November 2, they released 2 MVs with a 3rd one coming soon
