International K-pop fans are bandwagon stans

  • They will hype any act that gets immediate popularity in South Korea and will drop them when a new group arrives, some examples are aespa, stayc, weekly and itzy.

If one day SK decides to put male groups on pedestals, international fans will follow the same pursuit. They praise groups that succeed in SK and ignore groups that succeed globally. A group is considered successful for doing well in melon only but a flop for doing well in billboard only. This sounds like I am describing success stans but in reality most kpop fans especially girl group fans act this way.

  • the k in kpop stand for korea so

  • But there are multiple examples of groups that are more popular internationally than in Korea, and groups that are more popular in Korea than internationally?

  • Really? There ae groups that are popular and successful abroad and Korea doesn't care that much about them.

  • It's more about people here being like this but it's true :pepe-tea:

  • I consider myself a semi-company stan more than a success or bandwagon stan.

  • unless youre korean then arnt we all?

Grow up and stop trying to gatekeep everything

  • Boy groups stan detected. Stay mad that no boy group can be relevant in their own country that they have to shamelessly promote in the west instead

boy group was an example. The main point was gg stans abandoning girl groups for every other girl group that gets hoisted on a pedestal by the SK fans. I even gave examples, hope you are not too narrow minded that you focused on one part and ignored the main points. The bolded part is exactly what i define as bandwagon or blind stans, you consider south korea to be the pinnacle of success despite being an international fan yourself.
