It goes beyond that, it shouldn't even be about appreciating everyone. It should be about avoiding/ignoring things you don't like. But most of these people seek out what they don't like to have an outlet for all the feelings of inadequacy, anger, jealousy, loathing, etc. And of course to do it from the safety that being behind a screen gives them.
