are NCT a 4th gen group?

I am noticing a lot of people calling them that lately and I'm confused since they used to be 3rd gen but now a lot of people deiced it should be 4th gen

NCT isn't a group, it's a concept. In theory, or if SM does their job like they planned to, they should stick around for more generations. So basically, they aren't limited to one generation, but infinite. Hope this clears it out for you.

NCT U, NCT 127 and NCT Dream debuted in 2016. They’re all 3rd Gen. WayV debuted in 2019, they’re 4th Gen. The new Japanese unit will be 4th Gen too. Because NCT’s format is built to be expandable, the group is going to spam across several Kpop generations.
