Is this going viral?!

Does anyone know what's going on?

It's a song from what I assume is a nugu group. It's called Mascara by xg.

I noticed it because it was quite high on the daily spotifystreams list and I've literally never heard anyone speak of this group or their song.

It's at number 18

I checked their Spotify and they're at 1.6 million mls with only two songs.

They're also getting a high number of YouTube views.

This teaser for their performance video is already at 75k views after a few hours

A music show performance of theirs on arirang has around 274k views after a day.

These may all seem like low numbers compared to top groups but they're very good for a nugu or mid tier group. Especially a nugu group with two songs.

Tiktoks about them are also getting very high engagement.

I tried listening to the song to see what the fuss was about and I was shocked it was really good. I think it's a full English song and their pronunciation is really good.

It is doing really well in Japan (and only Japan). It isn’t viral but Japan really picked up the song.

That makes sense. Most of the content and comments I was seeing were in Japan. Even if they're not viral it's nice to see them doing well.

Well... I surely helped with these streams and I'm not from Asia. It's the only 2022 "kpop" song I've been listening to on spotify lately besides Love Dive, Illusion and Deep. I think XG is doing pretty decent internationally, their songs are good so they deserve it.

The rapping voices are so annoying in Mascara like little kids
