both, but mostly spotify since manipulating streams, that are somewhat regulated, is more difficult than album sales. bulk buying is way harder to control.

Global popularity is heavily k-pop fan based for both album sales and Spotify streams.

It's objectively spotify + youtube streams, there is a reason why at best 2 groups got good streaming but many are million sellers

well, if most of a group's stream is coming from one region say SEA or China then it's not global, it's regional.

It doesnt matter that it happened in the past. What it shows is that haters and jealous stans of other groups can and will use top success in Asian regions as an excuse to trash a group's achievements when they can get away with it - no matter if that's album sales, streams, views etc.

Hmm I suggest you to check Blackpink certifications which come from USA, Australia, UK, Brazil, Canada, Poland, Italy, Norway, France, Japan, south Korea and etc and I think that's not regional
