Was it Kai or YG & GD that started the global ambassadors for luxury brands?

  • “Global ambassadors for luxury brands only became a thing in kpop after Gucci picked Kai”. Did he really start it? True or false?

  • Yg always had connections with some big brands like chanel and Celine. GD and CL used to attend those events and many idols used to endorse big brands too. But as kpop became global idols started getting more opportunities in fashion game. I think everyone contributed not just one person.

  • They carefully chose their words. G-Dragon was never going to be global ambassador, but he was an ambassador for Chanel earlier, and argubly was the cause of the fashion world looking at K-Pop at all. I don't think YG had much to do with it except for being G-Dragon's employer. LVMH invested in YG because of GD. Korean media regularly name-checks him as the reason luxury brands sign up idols.

  • I mean if Kai is your fave, good for you. It's like saying "first" in any comment section tbh. No one can touch YG artists for impact though, starting with GD and now with BP. The apple of Kering's eye is Rosé. Ever since she was named YSL's first GA they've been outgrowing Gucci.

  • Perhaps? He wasn't the first luxury brand ambassador, many idols were in SK prior to him, but GLOBALLY, I don't know, perhaps?

I think for sure he was the first idol to design a capsule collection with a luxury brand?

I don't know why it matters either way though.

  • Blackpink made it trendy

Kpop Stan’s didn’t really care about it till bp started getting attention for their brands

  • Actually Aespa was the first kpop group promotor in fashion but Twice has been doing endorsement brand deals since 2015 and bts as well.

With regards to fashion deals its GD who did it years begore any BP member and it’s BP members, not BP as a group.

Kai is not first. In kpop.

    Then there’s Chinese stars.

Mys stop setting up aespa challenge

  • GD did with Chanel and 2NE1 did with Adidas and Moschino.

  • Jennie became a global ambassador for Chanel in March 2019. kai did for Gucci in September. So no, he wasn't the first.
