Twice renewal hype wasted with Japanese comeback/announcement of a mini 6+ weeks in advance

  • First MV and song post renewal is a Japanese comeback that half the fandom still won't care about as it's a pretty generic Twice pop song. On top of announcing a new comeback more than 6 weeks in advance that will lose most of its momentum by release as the renewal high has already peaked and will be going soon.

If there's one company that doesn't know how to use momentum, it's JYPE.

If they had announced the renewal a week or so before the August comeback the anticipation would have been huge but they have an MV and a full album in Japan before the actual comeback more fans will tune into.

  • Is a Japanese comeback really necessary? Didn’t they just had one not too long ago? They should have skipped it and focused on other things like solo promotions or a Korean comeback

  • I don't see why it matters if a comeback's announced 6 weeks before :melon_think:

Didn't YGE do the same with their groups? It didn't impact their comebacks negatively.

  • That's because you're not a Once. We're always in a constant state of "hype"

Nobody cares for Japanese releases, not even Japan....

If Itzy sold 700k, Twice definitely coming for the 1 mil next comeback.

Which YG groups do well other than BP who come out with pre-releases and after years with no music? if you're releasing 4/5 music videos a year yet teasing them all for weeks, people will stop caring.

I'm not talking purely about the fandom though that will also be impacted to an extent. There's a reason Twice's peak on Spotify is still I Can't Stope Me with 1.5m in a day, which was nearly 2 years ago. In an era where kpop is growing massively internationally every year and Twice are near the forefront, their largest day for a song on Spotify was nearly two years ago. Lower than what Stray Kids can pull.

So people are either not that hype for Twice or they're just not as popular as people push them to be abroad.

After seeing what Aespa sold and in an era where everyone and their nan is increasing sales, Twice not selling a million would be pretty surprising hype or not.
