    Approved the thread.
  • you mean the same ppl who are pretending it was a good song to begin with and hyped up over that trash UN speech? go figure.

  • I haven't seen anyone say that the girls can't sing (well except for "Midselle" Giselle lol) but I have seen criticism for SM not letting them sing live. We KNOW they can sing. The question was why SM forced them to lipsync. If the choreo being too intense was the problem, then SM should have considered that beforehand and toned it down for the live performances.

Thankfully SM is smart enough to let their groups sing live when they're in the USA.

  • Whoa! Sm knew what they were doing🔥

  • Of course they'd sound great live, they're an SM group: contrary to other Big 4 companies - and other companies - they actually care to get their trainees proper enough vocal training and passionate vocal coaches.

For some reason, other companies don't care that much about really helping their trainees' and groups' vocals develop properly, it's left to the trainees and artists themselves.

  • I like Ningning's and Karina's singing voices, their voices have such a nice tone to them.

Hopefully we'll see more of their live singing, because they really sound good.

Interesting you say that when SM is notorious for not letting their "idols" go anywhere near music production, writing, etc. I suppose if Aespa doesn't work out, they can go and make youtube channels and tik tok accounts and do covers lmao

Yeah, not sure why they do that, it feels dispiriting to me.

But that's up till the contract renewals, after that it depends on what the artists want and negotiate. Super Junior for example has full control and even their own sublabel to manage things.

Well, I think that kids who go to SM know what they're in for, meaning I think their goal is ultimately to be famous, not necessarily music artists.

As far as Super Junior, that's cool, hope people exploring their musicality and artistry becomes the norm.

of course, they ain´t moving at all. Let other idols do the same and they will also have great voices. Aespa can´t do both

Eh, no, they don't. Without naming names, we've seen enough examples of live singing in performances (and encores) where groups don't have impressive live singing voices at all, without heavy editing or loud backtrack.

There are many examples in behind the scenes etc where you can see SM artists that are passionate or heavily involved in the recording process or the production process, making changes to lyrics, song structure, song selection, comeback style etc. That shows many of them are far more involved and committed to making music and being a music artist.

There are also many examples where SM artists strive to present their songs and lyrics to be included, but where SM have put this huge wall up, more so than other companies, when it comes to songwriting and production where many SM artists crash against. Up to the point that some of them, like Jonghyun did, give their songs to artists outside of SM.
