Why did Hybe want Chaewon (and not yena, yuri,…)?

Sakura I get because she hard carried the sales, Minju because she was a visual. But Hybe has many choices in Izone to make an offer: Yena, Yuri, Eunbi, Chaeyeon,… why did they want Chaewon?

I never stanned them but Chaewon attracted me the most.

Because Yuri lacks star potential and her visual is not on par with Minju or Chaewon. Harsh but you know it's true.

Yena has more personality and variety skills, but I don't think she really fits that vibe and visual that HYBE wanted to build with Chaewon and Sakura (and Minju).

You can watch any LS live performance and you'll see for yourself why they wanted her. And whoever decided on the black bob understands her visuals perfectly.

I'm not an izone fan but I'd pick chaewon over others everytime.

Yena already had a contract with Yuehua

Yuri was by far the most likely to be rigged in to izone and therefore would have probably caused too much controversy PLUS they already had a main vocal in the lineup

Eunbi was too old (sadly that’s the way the K-pop industry works)

and Chaeyeon probably did not fit their visuals (again sad that it even matters but it clearly does in kpop)

As someone said above, when it comes to visuals, Chaewon beat both Yuri and Yena. Yena though makes up for it with her personality and variety skills but Yuri is just boring. If she can't even stand out on her own she likely would have likely benefited more from being in Le Sserafim, not the other way around.

Chaewon at the least popped off after Fiesta era. She became a huge stan attractor.

Chaewon is the most charismatic one and fit their concept better

The star power isn't there. IU literally was on every variety show in the early 2010s, Yuri can't even guest on the most average TV variety show.

Yuri has no endorsements, she's doing some web-drama, can't even land a TV drama role. And she has like no public recognition domestically.
